Emilian Berutti is a researcher in international relations and political science. He specialises in conflict resolution and management in urban areas, peacebuilding, and the political geography of war and peace.

For his PhD, he conducted extensive field research on urban conflict agreements in Mindanao, Philippines.

He has also worked on a broader project concerning alternative peacebuilding providers, focusing on Southeast Asia as a region that receives peacebuilding initiatives. He is currently a postdoctoral researcher on the Swiss National Science Foundation-funded project Yes, I do: A Theory of Belligerent Consent to United Nations Peace Missions, researching Haiti.
